Overview
Founded in 1869, it is the first equestrian center in Chile and South America exclusively dedicated to horse racing. Its first president was Francisco Baeza Sotomayor and the first race organized in its tracks was on September 20, 1870.
In addition, since 1873 it has hosted the Classical Group I "El Ensayo", the oldest race in South America and the second oldest in the American continent, surpassed only by the Belmont Classic of Belmont Park, New York.
The Club Hípico de Santiago was designated a Historical Monument in 2002, for its contribution to the architectural heritage of the city and to the cultural heritage with the weekly and uninterrupted realization since its foundation of race days, fundamental in the preservation and development of the Chilean equestrian heritage.
